The scene before the scene

Notice important details before committing to a course of action.

How this idea could work
What the learner does
Explore a panoramic NT incident scene from a defined safe observation point. Select hotspots, record what you can actually see, and separate observations from assumptions. A guided debrief reveals missed clues and explains why the information matters.
What they practise
A short observation log and explanation of the three details the learner would report first.
How we could build it
Custom HTML / Premium; simplified hotspot image in Storyline
What we need from you
St John-approved scenario, location imagery, hotspot rationales and safe viewing position.

Design ideas, not working course screens. We choose the right mix together—not all 20 are included in each package.

Sample content at the start, one feedback owner, clinical reviewers and access to your learning platform. Allow around three business days for feedback at each review. New content or specialist media can add time. These are guide schedules, not confirmed availability. We can put HCID first if you prefer.

Your project, made clear

What we need. What you receive.

Planning, content and clinical care

Your challenges. Our answers.

“A lot of information to bring together”

We group your material into what belongs in the course, a reference or practice.

“We want learners engaged”

Short explanations, purposeful decisions and feedback.

“The subject is complex and high consequence”

Clinical review is built in at every step.

“Our content is still being collated”

Start with a sample topic; we plan the rest in agreed batches.

“Our experts have limited time”

One feedback owner and consolidated comments at planned checkpoints.

“We need a clear budget and timeline”

A fixed scope and quote after sample review.

“We need to update content later”

Editable source files and a support bank for routine changes.

Start with one strong pilot.

One shared visual system for both courses: short foundations and a few carefully chosen scenarios.

Proposed course A

CBRNe | Observe, communicate and reassess

Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and explosive incidents.

Approved observation, communication, documentation and reassessment scenarios.

Proposed course B

HCID | Notice, ask and build the picture

High Consequence Infectious Diseases.

Notice and ask, then use St John-approved pathways and records.

Illustrative programme structure

Not a curriculum commitment.

  1. Brief orientation and learning goals.
  2. Short topic explanations using diagrams, captions and optional narration.
  3. Guided practice with feedback.
  4. A connected case or short capstone.
  5. Reflection and a concise approved reference resource.
  6. Optional refresher scenarios.

What would help from your team

  • Your source material

One PowerPoint per course, plus notes, PDFs and approved procedures.

  • Your learning goals

Topics, audience and what needs practical assessment.

  • Your timing and reviewers

A launch goal, reviewers, one feedback owner and review time.

  • Your learning platform

Package format, test access, devices and accessibility needs.

  • Your brand and examples

Approved logos, photos and examples, with permission to use them.

  • Your media preferences

Animation, narration or filming preferences, and consent to use them.

You can start with incomplete material — we agree the gaps before fixing scope.

What our delivery process looks like

Proposed deliverables, confirmed in your quote.

  1. A clear learning plan

An approved outline, script and storyboard.

  2. Your course packages

Two agreed courses with a shared look, chosen activities and media.

  3. Checked and ready

Platform package, compatibility test, review log and release checklist.

  4. A useful handover

Editable files, an update guide and a register of approved sources.

  5. Support when needed

An optional support bank, agreed in your quote.

Keyboard access, readable contrast and alternatives to audio, drag, 360° and 3D are designed in. Audits are separately agreed.

St John approves all clinical content; online completion does not replace practical assessment.

Pricing details and what costs extra

What is a learning minute?

About 100 approved script words — or one simple PowerPoint screen — is a starting guide. We agree the duration with you, then quote a fixed price.

How setup works

Setup is charged once for two courses on the same framework. Premium is quoted individually; no discount is assumed.

Example: two 30-minute courses

Approved source content, shared setup, no discount, no unscoped specialist media.

Illustrative examples

Not turnaround promises.

  • Small text edits: about 15–30 minutes.

Common questions

Good questions. Clear answers.

Can we start before all the content is ready?

Yes. We can review a sample and plan the first batch while you collate the rest. Production dates depend on agreed content and review availability.

Can you write the script?

Yes. We can reshape the supplied material into a clear learning script. Extensive research or redevelopment is scoped separately, and your clinicians approve the technical meaning.

Is a PowerPoint slide one learning minute?

Sometimes it is a useful comparison, but slide density and activity complexity vary. We check the material before fixing the price.

Will it run in our existing learning platform?

We confirm the required package format and test the agreed launch, resume, score and completion behaviour. Custom HTML reporting must be built and tested; it is not automatic.

Are all the 360° and 3D ideas included?

No. The gallery is a menu of possibilities. We select and price the right activities for your outcomes and budget.

Will the learner be timed?

Only where your team agrees it serves the learning. Untimed practice, pause and accessible alternatives are part of the design discussion.

Who checks the clinical content?

Your nominated St John NT clinical reviewers approve scripts, imagery, scenarios, equipment configurations and assessment criteria before release.

Can we make changes ourselves?

We agree editable source handover and any authoring licences. We can also make updates through a support bank.

What about animation and voice?

We can create short explainers, motion graphics, narration and video. The quote states the media allowance, captions/transcripts and any talent or licence costs.

When can you start?

We can begin with sample review and scoping. The production slot and detailed dates are confirmed with you before the build is booked.
